Founded in 1989 by Dale Willard, as Willard Meat Brokers Ltd., the company started as a meat broker providing services to the Canadian packinghouse industry. Within two years, the company's scope expanded to include trading and increased import and export of meat products to other countries, in an effort to provide a more cost efficient and wider product offering to its client base.
Today, Willard Meats is an international meat trading company at the forefront of sales and marketing of meat products to a wide variety of markets including the packinghouse, foodservice and pet food industries. Together with its sister company Midtown Meats Ltd., the company employs over 170 people and has annual sales exceeding $70 Million. In 2000, the company's name was officially changed to Willard Meats International Ltd. to recognize the transformation.
Success in the trading business is based on service and relationships. The company prides itself on earning it's business "one customer at a time" by focusing on meeting individual needs and maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
